Op 25 & 26 december wordt er over de hele wereld weer kerstmis gevierd. Voor christenen betekend dit het vieren van de geboorte van Jezus Christus. Niet aan de hand zou je zeggen maar is Jezus Christus wel geboren op 25 december zoals ons is geleerd? Het antwoord is nee. Als kind had ik daar al hele discussies over met mijn toenmalige pastoor. Ik lag altijd discussies met deze man en dreef hem soms tot complete waanzin. Ik mocht op een gegeven moment ook niet meer naar de godsdienstles op school omdat ik een slechte invloed zou hebben op mijn mede klasgenoten omdat is steeds alles wat de pastoor vertelde in de les in twijfel trok.
Als kind doe je vaak nog zoals de rest van je familie doet. Zij zijn je voorbeeld en dus vierde ik tot 1982 ook altijd gewoon kerstmis. En had het ook de betekenis die die ons door de kerk is geleerd. Toch heb ik altijd het gevoel gehad dat er iets niet klopte met die christelijke feestdagen. Vanuit mijn Antroposofische opvoeding leerde ik dat de christelijke feestdagen gejat waren van de Kelten, Germanen en Scandinaviërs. We schrijven kerstmis 1981, in mijn familie was kerstmis altijd een groot drink en eet festijn en zoals gezegd, zei waren mijn voorbeeld. Ik had flink gegeten en ook stiekem heel veel alcohol gedronken en was dus dronken geworden. Ik lag naast een neefje van me dronken op straat in de sneeuw. En weer overviel mij dat gevoel van, dat hele kerstmis klopt niet. Jaren lang heb ik gezocht naar een antwoord in boeken en vanaf 2000 "toen ik een internet computer kocht" op internet. Gisteravond vond ik eindelijk het antwoord waar ik zo lang naar heb gezocht. Ik kwam op YouTube een filmpje tegen van een Rabbijn die vertelde hoe het nu werkelijk zat met de geboortedag van Jezus Christus. Vanuit mijn oerweten wist ik meteen dit klopt helemaal.
De geboortedag van Jezus Christus is helemaal niet 25 december in het jaar 0. Het is 20 maart van het jaar 6. Het jaar 6 had ik al eens vaker gehoord, gelezen en gezien tijdens mijn zoektocht. De katholieke kerk heeft hele verhalen verzonnen rond om kerst, Pasen, Pinksteren en wie weet om wat nog meer. Als je de bijbel leest "en dat heb ik vroeger heel veel gedaan" dan lees je vaak dingen waarvan je denkt, dit klopt niet. Begin jaren 90 gingen bij mij de ogen volledig open, alles wat in de bijbel staat is verdraaid en gemanipuleerd om ons mensen klein en angstig te houden. Als kind werd mij geleerd over een god die wraakzuchtig was. Als jij een zonde pleegde dan kreeg je daar een zware straf voor, meestal uitgevoerd door mijn vader of in de tehuizen waar ik woonde door de leiding die me door de hele kamer heen sloeg en gooide. Ze zeiden dan dat ik zo moest leren.
Maar al dat slaan en gooien maakte mij alleen maar rebelser en zorgde er ook voor dat ik steeds minder te maken wilde hebben met het geloof. Begin jaren 90 werden mij dus de ogen compleet geopend en wilde ik helemaal niets meer met de kerk te maken hebben. Toen ik eind jaren 90 zelf een gezin kreeg keerde ik weer even terug naar de kerk maar dat kwam vooral door de liberale pastor die er toen was. In 2002 ben ik zelfs voor de kerk getrouwd. Inmiddels ben ik alweer 9 jaar gescheiden en wil ik helemaal niets meer met de kerk te maken hebben en vind ik de bijbel een groot sprookjes boek, en als ik ergens niet van hou dan zijn het sprookjes. Als kind hielt ik ook niet van sprookjes, ik vond ze gruwelijk net als veel filmpjes van Walt Disney trouwens. Maar terug naar de geboortedag van Jezus Christus die dus niet 25 december is geboren maar op 20 maart wanneer de lente equinox plaatsvind. Christus was het lam Gods, en wanneer worden lammeren geboren? Juist ja, in de lente.
En daarom vier ik nu al zo'n 10 jaar geen kerstmis meer op 25 en 26 december maar het Keltische Yule op 21 december, de winter-equinox. Het Keltische Yule is een lichtfeest, dan wordt geviert dat het licht het duister heeft overwonnen en dat de dagen daardoor weer langer licht zullen gaan worden. Bijkomend voordeel is dat ik geen cadeautjes hoef te kopen en geen belachelijke feestmaal hoef te bereiden. Al ik hoef te doen is dankbaar te zijn en mag gaan bedenken wat ik in het nieuwe jaar voor een stappen wil gaan zetten. Note: volgens de Keltische kalender die ik volg begint het nieuwe jaar op 1 november, de dag na Samhain of Halloween. Maar genoeg gekletst van mijn kant, bekijk het onderstaande filmpje en een gezegend Yule gewenst.

Christmas will be celebrated all over the world on 25 & 26 December. For Christians, this means celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Not to worry, you say, but was Jesus Christ born on December 25 as we were taught? The answer is no. As a child, I already had whole discussions about this with my pastor. I always had discussions with this man and sometimes drove him to complete madness. At a certain point I was also no longer allowed to attend the religion class at school because I would have a bad influence on my fellow classmates because everything that the pastor told in class was always questioned by me.
As a child you often do the same as the rest of your family. They are your example, so I always just celebrated Christmas until 1982. And it also had the meaning that the church taught us. Yet I always had the feeling that something was wrong with those Chritical holidays. From my Anthroposophical education I learned that the Christian holidays were stolen from the Celts, Germans and Scandinavians. We write Christmas 1981, in my family Christmas was always a big drink and eat party and as said, they were partly my example. I had eaten a lot and secretly drank a lot of alcohol and so I got drunk. I was lying drunk in the snow on the street next to a cousin of mine. And again that feeling came over me, that whole Christmas is not right. For years I searched for an answer in books and from 2000 "when I bought an internet computer" on the internet. Last night I finally found the answer that I have been looking for for so long. I came across a video clip on YouTube of a Rabbi who told me about the birthday of Jesus Christ. From my primal knowledge, I immediately knew this was completely true.
The birthday of Jesus Christ is not December 25 at all in year 0. It is March 20 of year 6. I had heard, read and seen year 6 more often during my search. The Catholic Church has made up whole stories about Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and who knows what else. If you read the Bible "and I have done a lot in the past" then you often read things that you think, this is not true. In the early 90s, my eyes were completely open, everything in the Bible was screwed up and manipulated to keep us people small and anxious. As a child I was taught about a god who was vengeful. If you committed a sin, you would receive a heavy punishment for it, usually performed by my father or in the homes where I lived by the leadership who beat me and threw me through the entire room. They told me to learn like that.
But all that hitting and throwing only made me more rebellious and made sure that I wanted less and less to do with faith. So in the early 90s my eyes were completely opened and I wanted nothing more to do with the church. When I had a family of my own in the late 90s, I returned to the church for a moment, but that was mainly due to the liberal pastor who was there then. In 2002 I even got married for the church. I have been divorced for 9 years now and I want nothing more to do with the church and I think the Bible is a big book of fairy tales, and if I don't like something then it is fairy tales. As a child I didn't like fairy tales either, I thought they were horrible just like many Walt Disney movies. But back to the birthday of Jesus Christ who was not born December 25 but on March 20 when the spring equinox took place. Christ was the lamb of God, and when are lambs born? Yes, in the spring.
And that is why I have not been celebrating Christmas on December 25 and 26 for about 10 years, but the Celtic Yule on December 21, the winter equinox. The Celtic Yule is a festival of light, then it is celebrated that the light has conquered the dark and that as a result the days will become longer light again. An additional advantage is that I don't have to buy presents or prepare a ridiculous feast. All I have to do is be grateful and can start thinking about what I want to take in the new year. Note: according to the Celtic calendar that I follow, the new year starts on November 1, the day after Samhain or Halloween.
